Height: 6 7 | Weight: 195 | Age: 19 | Last rank: 50. Opinions are understandably split around the NBA on Baldwin after a difficult year in college where essentially nothing went right for him. Coming in at nearly 90,000 words, I hope there is something for everyone in here, from folks who work for NBA front offices and decision-makers more of whom take the time to read this than I would have ever believed when I started doing it a few years ago to NBA fans who dont watch a second of college basketball. But his statistical case is so strong that you have to take him seriously as a possible outlier, and as a potentially useful rotation center. Lewiss outstanding physical tools make him an intriguing developmental pick: hes a good rebounder with a huge wingspan who is working to make his game more perimeter-oriented. He has a very advantageous situation at Arizona, where hed be stepping into a more centralized role if he were to return without Bennedict Mathurin around. One thing though, his shot never wavered. He keeps the ball moving around the horn in a way star players will love playing with. The team that ends up with him if he decides to go through with the NBA this year will need to work on his perimeter offensive skills. Height: 6 5 | Weight: 215 | Age: 20 | Last rank: 18. Some adjustments here as we get further into the process and see more and more how things have worked out in the playoffs. Wesley is one of the more interesting wild-card prospects in the draft, after a surprising freshman year catapulted him into the first-round conversation despite minimal high-level experience entering college. He needs to get stronger, tougher and more assertive, and some time in the G League would likely help him next season. He needs to get a lot stronger and isnt an explosive athlete, but the fact hes young for his class adds some appeal here. Banchero relies on his strength and coordination in lieu of speed and explosive vertical play, but hes so skilled that you have to think he finds a way. On top of it, hes twitchy athletically and can get separation from defenders as well as rise up for a big dunk. Showing improved touch at the foul line and from the elbows, he is far from a polished threat on the perimeter. Height: 6 4 | Weight: 175 | Age: 22 | Last rank: 30. Hes 6-foot-10, can handle the ball, provides some defensive versatility and has the potential to shoot. His size, craftiness and long stride makes him a pretty interesting prospect, but his shot selection, jumper and decision-making need some improvement. Height: 6 6 | Weight: 220 | Age: 21 | Last rank: 53. Credit Braun for taking a substantial all-around leap this season, filling a secondary scoring role Kansas badly needed and putting himself in position to get a real chance at the NBA. While hes not a rim protector in the truest sense, hes mobile enough to defend fours and slower wings, and the concerns about him on defense are slightly oversold. Once billed as a potential lottery pick, Nzosa now projects as a pure second-round flier, with his role having mostly evaporated this season in Spain. He can also make plays for his teammates. Hes an interesting investment wherever he comes off the board. Teams with the worst records in the league who are waiting to hear back from the lottery gods can now feel comfortable there could be a high-upside player waiting even if they fall to No. Jamaree Bouyea, PG, San Francisco | Senior, 65. His ability to shoot the ball will take him a long way. But Id shade toward Smith because hes just a bit safer in terms of not being played off the floor in the playoffs (in Holmgrens case, fouling is the thing that stands out most as a potential issue due to his lack of strength right now) while maintaining a similar level of upside. Height: 6 9 | Weight: 215 | Age: 19 | Last rank: 48. He has great size and athleticism for his age. Hes not a creator off the bounce and doesnt make incredible, dynamite passing reads. Brady Manek, F, North Carolina | Senior, 93. He showed when he decided to lock in, he could guard bigger and more physical defenders and give them problems. His competitive mettle helps pull the whole package of skills together nicely, and hes a good enough athlete to hold his own. He excels in transition and plays an appealing brand of team basketball, and his consistency was a key part of Dukes success. This years draft will be televised on ABC and ESPN. Even while acknowledging the current flaws in Smiths game and Ill get to them momentarily I just couldnt get much further on this board without him. Most of his offensive damage is done around the basket and most often hes dunking it. Height: 7 0 | Weight: 175 | Age: 19 | Last rank: 54. If Banchero doesnt reach that level, his advanced passing feel and instincts playing on the interior should make him valuable. Colin Gillespie, PG, Villanova | Senior, 72. If I was to compare him with someone from a playing style and physical standpoint, it would be Bam Adebayo, although I believe hes more skilled at this age than Bam was. ET; our NBA Draft 2022 sleepers, steals and underrated prospects can be viewed here. Is he intriguing enough for teams to make an informed bet on him? Showing his athleticism playing above the rim effortlessly, finishing with good body control, and never shying away from contact, he was brutally effective in the open floor. Height: 6 11 | Weight: 250 | Age: 18 | Last rank: 13. Height: 6 10 | Weight: 250 | Age: 19 | Last rank: 3. Theres some untapped upside here if a team develops him creatively. Keels is a focused competitor, plays with poise and has good size for a combo guard, and Duke had enough scorers on the roster that he wasnt always needed to get a ton of shots up. Martin should be able to guard multiple positions and heighten the collective toughness of bench lineups with his energy. Below if a few of the standout of the camp that showed high NBA potential. It feels like theres a fairly good chance LaRavia becomes a nice complementary player, as a smart passer, capable shooter and willing defender with positional size. Another year to develop his craft in a relatively low-stakes environment especially given the work they did this past season with a player were about to discuss in a moment could really benefit his transition to the NBA. He does need to put some weight on and get stronger but that should come over time. 2022 NBA Draft: Top 100 Prospects Big Board V.2. Having undergone a significant growth spurt over the last couple of years to his current height, its clear Miller is still learning how to use his newfound size. Hes more likely a second-rounder, but in a thin guard draft, Rollinss upside is appealing. Teams have some concerns about his athleticism and injury history, and he wasnt especially versatile at Duke, where he struggled at times defensively. Theres room for him to grow as an offensive creator, but he made real progress in the G League, and his maturity and intelligence are major intangible separators. But this process is going to be so important, and he hasnt gotten off to the best start with teams because of how messy his entrance into the draft has been, something our Kyle Tucker has written about extensively. Its tough to find perimeter players genuinely as versatile as Daniels, who can legitimately run the point or play off-ball and also has the tools and smarts to feasibly defend four positions. Because of that, youll see him dominate for long stretches, then also throw some mind-numbingly bad passes that make you wonder what in the world he was even seeing. Houstan may be heavily tested on the defensive end in the pros, and he needs to get much stronger physically to hold his own, but there remains reason for some optimism here if he plays tougher and emerges as a high-end shooting specialist. But on the defensive end, hes terrific. He was one of the worst finishers in college basketball this past season, making about 36 percent of his shots at the rim. His length allows him to play bigger than his height, and his strength allows him to create mismatches. Hes still playing a bit of developmental catch-up in terms of feel, and turns 22 later this year, which places him in the age range of college juniors. Theres some split opinion on him around the NBA, and not a ton of helpful college film or a useful production sample considering how small his role was at UCLA. As a big wing with a well-rounded skillset, Procida has real appeal, particularly considering a team wont have to roster him immediately. Height: 7 0 | Weight: 195 | Age: 20 | Last rank: 4. But he fits a proven archetype that works for rotational centers in the modern NBA, and figures to be passable in a reserve role whenever he comes over. However, a deeper dive tells us that fewer players are actually leaving college basketball early than weve seen in a while. Hes a quality passer and explosive leaper, but lacks the polish to run a team at this point, and doesnt threaten enough away from the ball to have a pathway to early minutes. He has what teams want from a skill and intangibles standpoint, but there are also fair questions as to whether all his strengths will translate the same way at the highest level. He struggled at times. Theres still developmental appeal here, as he is a terrific passer, can shoot off the dribble and has the feel and handle to compensate for some of what he lacks physically. Showing good timing, rotating to the ball inside and getting a hand up guarding on the ball, he did a much better job contesting without fouling than he did as a sophomore. He compensates for it with a strong floater game, but he needs to do more than rise up for impressive off-hand dunks. If he can stay slimmed-down and keep the extra weight off, Fosters length and motor give him a strong chance of sticking in the NBA as an energy big with some basic perimeter utility. The son of longtime NBA player Samaki Walker, Jabari was a late-blooming high school player and is still raw in some ways, but bigs who can hold their own defensively and knock down shots are always of interest. But teams just really arent going to have any idea how quickly and reactively he processes the game until after hes drafted and playing at summer league. Davis is the type of person you bet on to keep improving and exceeding expectations, and he has the talent to match. Keels is one of the youngest players in the draft and had a solid year in college, but concerns surrounding his heavy frame, average foot speed and lack of an elite skill make it a bit trickier to make a first-round case. Barlow benefited from his year at Overtime, but still doesnt have much high-level game experience under his belt as he enters the league, so the prerogative here will presumably be getting him as many minutes as he can handle in the G League next season. Its scary because hes so raw and it seems he hasnt even tapped into his potential yet. He averaged 13.3 points in his final 12 games while shooting 48 percent from the field and 36 percent from 3. It may take some time, but if Keels can improve his shooting and play a little bit at either guard spot, he should be able to help a team down the line. Lewis has already slimmed down a bit and needs to continue working on his mobility, but if hes able to guard either forward spot in addition to spacing the floor competently, theres a pathway to value. The perceived risk is understandable, but a better situation could really help him. Thus, we arrive at the inherent torture of ranking the top 100 players in the NBA. Davis is one of the more well-rounded guards and most competitive players in the draft, and he offers more upside than he gets credit for. Hes a terrific athlete who passes the test physically and didnt look overmatched in the G League. He can get his shot off against anybody, no matter how long and athletic. If I were advising Miller, I think Overtime Elite makes a lot of sense if no team steps up to the plate with a first-round promise. But, his improvement in that regard and with his vision leave some room for optimism about his ability to do more at the next level than his ability to finish around the rim, rim-run and compete on the glass. Often noted for his work ethic, Williams has the type of length and NBA-ready body that give him a chance to chip in minutes in a pinch without being a liability on either end. He runs the floor like a gazelle and is very light on his feet. The upside is worth a swing. Holmgren may be a tad more situation-dependent than the three prospects listed ahead of him, but hes still one of the drafts best defenders and a skilled big well-suited for the modern game. Hes very good at coming off his man and helping defensively. Whats probably most impressive about his game is when hes caught on the switch on the perimeter, he can sit down and cause the perimeter player problems on defense. Moore shook off two difficult seasons and turned himself into a consistent, reliable player as a junior, emerging as Dukes leader and as a player who can do a little bit of everything: Hes taken a leap forward in confidence and assertiveness; hes a capable passer who can handle the ball and start plays; hes an improving jump shooter (41% from three was an impressive leap); and he offers plus length and smarts on the defensive end. Hes also a smart decision-maker and capable passer who should make some plays for teammates off the threat of his catch-and-shoot game. With the tools to be a multi-positional playmaker at the net level, Eason had some impressive moments moving his feet containing the ball on the perimeter at LSU. If youre really not a student of basketball and you catch Omaha play, it would be easy to underrate him. Showing the ability to make push shots and finish seals in the post, Koloko averaged 1.11 points per Post Up possession [93rd percentile]. There are currently no comments available for AJ Griffin. He is still learning the nuances of the game and has average height for a wing, but he is long, defends, has polished shot-making skills and showed more capacity to play on the ball than expected. 1 given all of that, even if I think he will require a fair amount of polish to reach his ceiling. He probably wont turn into an on-ball playmaker, but as long as he knocks down threes at a high clip, its easy to see him plugging in and adding value somewhere. Another freshman coming off a weird season in college, Watson remains an intriguing upside play. Some teams felt he should have returned to college and taken on a larger playmaking workload. While he doesnt have one elite strength, he can do a little bit of everything, capable of playing on the ball in a pinch, making plays for teammates, knocking down open shots and using his substantial length on defense. I love his intensity and the effort he plays with. He was very efficient playing out of the dunker spot this season, but did a nice job finishing rolling to the rim. Javon Freeman-Liberty, G, DePaul | Senior, 96. Although hes not the most exciting player, Kamagate is one of this drafts better stash candidates, as an athletic big who plays primarily as a screener and who can finish powerfully around the rim and block shots. Christie didnt have a great freshman year at Michigan State, but he has the basic framework for an NBA wing, with a good frame and room to add significant muscle and improve as a shooter. The tape is great in spurts, mostly good, but he also has some rough moments as hes still figuring out his limits on some level. Most importantly, he finds ways to involve himself in every play. Chandler has a nice array of qualities for a small guard, with the discrepancies hinging less on his talent and more on whether one likes players in his mold. As a prospect, the thing that worries me most about Miller is the intersection of strength and explosiveness. Last season he was highly efficient, shot the ball well, and also led the team in steal rate by a wide margin. Nembhard put everything together in his final year of college, and looks like one of the better options in a thin point guard class. I would expect he will be invited to the NBA Draft Combine, and how his pre-draft process looks while competing against other good prospects on the workout circuit will play a critical role in whether or not he ends up in this class. But my bet is that teams get excited enough about the intersection of Branhams size, tools and shooting for him to end up in the top 15. Theres no argument that Sharpe is a uniquely gifted scorer: hes an elite athlete, he has a smooth shooting stroke, and its hard to stop him from getting the looks he wants on the perimeter. Fantasy Basketball Rankings Fantasy Rankings; Once thought of as one of the top prospects, Baldwin has now slid on most draft boards because he has struggled to dominate the Horizon League on a bad Milwaukee team. This was the first time in years they really concentrated on the Underclassmen classes and some of them really stood out. Theres some upside here if Champagnie can start to hit more shots off movement and diversify his offensive diet a bit more, but staying solid on defense, spacing the floor and moving the ball is a pretty simple pathway to being useful. Height: 6 4 | Weight: 200 | Age: 19 | Last rank: 17. 26): This is the second significant spike up the board and another Game Theory Prospect of the Week from earlier in the year. There are currently no comments available for Keegan Murray. While Seabron is a bit more of a project than your typical 22-year-old, hes a good downhill player with great speed for his size, and if he can start to shoot the ball reliably from distance, theres a chance he could be a unique role player. Hes a good run-jump athlete, plays hard defensively, and has displayed enough shot-making prowess that its easy to think hell be able to hold his own and add value as a glue guy. He has a soft touch and can knock down the occasional 3 ball as well. Height: 6 0 | Weight: 170 | Age: 19 | Last rank: 42. Hes extremely fast, plays hard, competes defensively, and was a more confident and assertive player by the end of the year. Jared Rhoden, SG, Seton Hall | Senior, 63. He can handle the ball at a high level off the bounce with real shake. 10 range that its worth incorporating the next group into this one. get setup in his favorite spots. He still profiles better as a backup in the NBA considering his size limitations and reliance on his speed. Sochan has to become a better jump shooter, but that should become passable in time and will always be secondary to all the other things he does well. Another player from the Aggies' top-rated 2022 recruiting class has entered the portal, as wide receiver Chris Marshall submitted his name. Theres a bit of concern with him defensively given hes slow-footed, but he has the size to compensate if he embraces playing more physically. While Minott didnt play much at Memphis and is pretty far away from contributing in the NBA, he does some positive things as a long, active forward who can cover ground and make plays on both ends. Ive seen a lot of 15 year olds in my years of scouting and if he isnt top 5, hes definitely top 10 in all my years. As long as Nembhard makes enough jumpers to punish defenders who sag off of him, its easy to see him having a solid career. Its impressive that he managed to be supremely efficient in his role as a freshman, despite not being a very good ball-handler, and while Browns shot isnt broken by any means, he does have a ways to go in developing consistency. But its easy to see his size and length playing up on both ends, and creating opportunities for long-term success. While it is important to form ones own prospect evaluations, it is a valuable exercise to get a pulse on how the market values prospects that comprise a given draft class. Impacting the game defensively with his ability to block and challenge shots, Kolokos rim protection proved key in several of Arizonas wins. Jared McCain 62 CG Centennial (Corona, CA) 2023. Still, on-ball creators with his type of size arent easy to find, and while hes a ways away from helping an NBA team, there are certainly some things to like here, with the hope being that a better situation makes a difference in his development. Hes still quite early in his development, and his strengths point to star-like outcomes if everything breaks right. Smith would be a pure developmental play for a team willing to bet on a player with terrific scoring instincts and tools as he works his way into the other aspects of his game. I generally dont rely heavily on the concept of tiers when I go through this processits a handy thought exercise, but at the end of the day, teams have to pick somebodybut ranking pretty much everything after roughly 20 players really felt like splitting hairs. Hes great on the switch and in help defense playing with a lot of energy. A lot of teams have come around on Diengs upside after he built momentum with a strong close to his season in the NBL. Particularly, I think his intersection of strength and vertical explosiveness makes him a bit more translatable as a prospective rim protector than meets the eye. Guarding every position on the court while often serving as a small ball center for an LSU team that switched everything, Eason showed the ability to use his length inside, his quickness on the perimeter, and making disruptive plays covering ground in impressive fashion. He does take a lot of tough shots, but isnt selfish, and has consistently found ways to drive winning apart from his scoring. A threat to finish lobs and an aggressive straight-line driver who showed the ability to finish with both hands, Eason put consistent pressure on the rim. Teams will eventually go back and do a deep dive on his defense, which was pretty poor. This site has no affiliation with the National Basketball Association | Website by. He plays with good pace and was rarely knocked off his rhythm. He was a great communicator with his teammates, and very vocal all week. Height: 6 5 | Weight: 210 | Age: 22 | Last rank: 44. Diop has worked himself into firm draftability as one of the more interesting international stash prospects in the class. He was already productive in the G League while playing at his previously listed 250 pounds, but dropping weight has enhanced his versatility on the defensive end and helped unlock more of his offensive skill. The progress he made with his skill level and the way he sees the floor gives him more intrigue than most upperclassmen projecting ahead. He has good size for a lead guard and is sneakily a good athlete, but his jumper is a bit questionable and its not clear how functional hes going to be creating shots on the ball in the pros. Branhams mid-range game in particular holds promise, and he should be able to space the floor and operate a bit as a playmaker in ball screens, where hes proven capable of punishing defenses. With another predraft process Hes a tad undersized, but hes willing to do the dirty work, and theres a chance he plays his way off the fringes and into a roster spot by the end of next season. Much of the biographical and draft data of the 2021 Big Board: Top 100 Prospects Change Player Weight Pos 1 +1 Cade Cunningham 220 PG/SG 2 +3 Jalen Green 180 SG 3 Jalen Suggs 205 PG 4 Evan Mobley 215 PF/C 40 more rows Its just been troublesome how much hes struggled to produce (and to be fair, his preseason expectations were way too high). Trevor Hudgins, G, Northwest Missouri State | Senior, 97. Hell need to land in the right situation, but his ability to hit shots, pass creatively and make winning plays is pretty appealing. The big concern here is hes not particularly athletic, with slow feet and a lack of explosiveness that will make for a challenging adjustment to the NBA. He has touch but horrible shot prep and balance that will require a lot of work to bring consistency. Hes more of a play finisher than anything else, but hes a good athlete whos effective around the basket and in the open floor, and can elevate to block shots. There are currently no comments available for Chet Holmgren. He has great size for his position, high basketball IQ, has made strides as a shooter and competes on defense, a package of strengths that project pretty nicely into a game manager type of role off the bench. Height: 6 6 | Weight: 180 | Age: 19 | Last rank: 28. He can also be an impactful defender when he wants to be. Hes additionally considering using a gap year in regard to the draft and turning pro and playing with either the G League Ignite or Overtime Elite. LaRavia played only one year in the ACC after transferring from Indiana State, but his statistical profile is quite well-rounded and backs up the eye test. But from a macro standpoint, its easy to see that Christie has a well-rounded base of skills, and may just need some time and attention in order to blossom. Kamagate doesnt have a ton of upside beyond that, also factoring in he doesnt space the floor. Minott remains one of the more interesting second-round upside throws. But some teams rightfully wonder what else hell do beyond scoring, and hell need to make strides in other areas to maximize his chance at sticking. He has very good court vision and will make the easy pass. On top of that, he can straight-line drive toward the rim or back cut to finish. Height: 6 2 | Weight: 180 | Age: 18 | Last rank: 43. With that all being said he still has a lot of work ahead of him and we know how easy it can be, to become content and get complacent for cream of the crop, hyped up players. First and foremost, Williams is going to measure extremely well. Theres star potential here: hes extremely fast and strong, he puts a lot of pressure on defenses in transition, and the NBAs style of play will open things up for him in a big way. Still, theres ostensible upside here as a combo guard with some creative potential. While hes not especially tall for a wing, Moores traits in concert offer nice versatility to blend different types of lineups and augment teammates. His feel for finding pockets to score on offense and playing off of teammates, coupled with a long frame and some defensive versatility, make him a safe bet to be a starting-caliber forward. Hes a monster on the offensive and defensive glass. Hes pretty athletic, offers some basic utility on the defensive end and is young for his class, which helps. With nearly two-thirds of his shots in LSUs set offense coming inside, he scored 1.16 points per shot around the rim in the half court [56th percentile]. Hes long, athletic and plays with reckless abandon. Diop has some basic offensive skill and wont be overmatched physically, and hes made encouraging progress over the past couple years in terms of adding nuances to his game. He also has great footwork and hands for a player in any class. Its hard to find elite athletes with his type of base skill set, and while he projects to play primarily off the ball, he has the ability to put up plenty of points in time. [69th percentile] as his agility helped him hold his own on the perimeter at the collegiate level and gives him some schematic versatility. His statistical profile is quite strong. While far from a finished product, hes a good athlete with appealing positional size, passing skills and defensive upside, with a skill-set well-suited for uptempo play. It was tough at times for Ohio State to keep him on the floor, which is why he ended up not quite playing as many minutes as youd think throughout the year especially early. Bennedict Mathurin. Lucas Williamson, G, Loyola Chicago | Senior, 64. At a height of 69 and with great length, this young man can guard all 5 positions on the defensive end. This feels like a bit of a buy-early opportunity for a smart team. There are currently no comments available for Bennedict Mathurin. Smiths combination of elite, translatable strengths makes him a special prospect, and the simplicity of his game is still a bit underappreciated: His advanced mechanics and touch give him a chance to be one of the best jump shooters in the NBA; hes an agile defender who will be able to switch across the position spectrum; and hes an extremely focused competitor. Height: 6 10 | Weight: 240 | Age: 19 | Last rank: 66. Photo by Steph Chambers/Getty Images. And he brings all of that at 6-foot-8 with a frame that has some upside to add athleticism as he gets into better condition from playing under NBA strength and conditioning programs. 9. This grouping encompasses a couple of tiers, but Ive written enough about the players in the No. [90th percentile]. Chandler may very well stick in the NBA long-term, but unless youre optimistic he becomes a starter, hes a better proposition in the second round. Tevin Brown, SG, Murray State | Senior, 83. Bryson Warren 62 PG Overtime Elite (Little Rock, AR) 2023. Not many 19-year-olds arrive in the NBA with such a fully formed identity, and Sochan also has the type of skill upside to be much more than a quality glue guy in the long run. Making several midrange jumpers with promising touch and showing marked improvement at the foul line, Koloko fits a clear mold with his mobility and reach. He has good physical tools, and its easy to see him becoming a useful player even if he doesnt turn into a star. Martin is one of my favorite sleepers in this class and built positive momentum at the combine. Players with his type of size, feel and skill are always in demand, and with room to improve as a shot-maker and passer, Murray has more untapped potential than your typical 21-year-old prospect. If his defense plays up and he diversifies his offense, theres a chance he finds a niche, and teams respect his willingness to battle and the edge he plays with. Scouts there came away with the general feeling that he was arguably the most intriguing long-term player on the World Team, but it was a World Team that paled in comparison to some past iterations from a talent perspective. Marshall, the No. Banchero slides back above Ivey, but I consider these two to be in the same tier. This is probably higher than youll find Sochan ranked in most other places, which reflects my belief in his unique intangibles, high-energy style and ability to impact games with physical play and veteran-like savvy.
